Preface

Hey 👋👋🏽 , this is Pete & Raj. We left our cushty jobs at Monzo & Accenture to start a business on the 1st January 2020, called twenty--twenty. Can you imagine what a year it's been? 😂

Starting from strong timeless principles we’ve worked more hours than we ever had in our lives to beat the odds and catalyse four ventures in London, Dublin & Tokyo. Most excitingly, we've helped our first portfolio company navigate the initial blows of the pandemic and to find a sustainable growth channel, which Holly -- our amazing first Catalyst 🥳 -- is currently scaling!

In our journey so far, there have been soaring highs, painful lows, learnings and new directions, which we believe are the hallmarks of any good story! Instead of the standard start-up fairytale, we'd like to tell ours with gloss and the grit in equal measure. We hope that our journal saves you a mistake that we've made already; gives you that nudge you need to get your own project moving or encourages you to reach out and join us.

So, here are two self-indulgent retellings of the series of events that led to the founding of twenty--twenty. This is an intimate story of origins and tells of the relationship developed between two best friends, their relationship to their families, and how twenty--twenty isn't a business for business sake, but a vehicle for a life's best work.
